Seasonal Preparation: Conditioning the Skin for Summer Exposure

Transitioning from winter to summer in New York is not a passive process. The skin moves from a dry, controlled environment into heat, humidity, and increased UV exposure - often abruptly. Without preparation, imbalance is almost guaranteed.

Pre-summer facial therapy is designed to condition the skin, not overwhelm it. Light exfoliation is introduced to refine texture, hydration is adjusted to remain effective without heaviness, and barrier function is reinforced. This last point is critical. Without a stable barrier, the skin becomes reactive under sun exposure - breakouts, sensitivity, uneven tone.

SPF is non-negotiable. This is not a recommendation, it is a requirement. Daily, consistent, regardless of weather conditions.

Clients who prepare properly tend to experience fewer seasonal breakouts, more stable hydration, and a more consistent appearance overall. Which, if you consider it, is simply the result of respecting the skin’s need to adapt gradually.
